ABOUT THE HACKNEY PASSION

Welcome to "The Hackney Passion 26," the second year of our week-long dinner series, taking place May 26th to 30th.

This series celebrates North Carolina’s incredible and diverse seafood, featuring amazing dishes crafted by the state's top chefs.

Why “The Passion”? We are deeply passionate about the seafood supplied by our dedicated fishermen and fisherwomen, as well as the fresh produce from our farmers and the quality beef from our ranchers. They are our Food Heroes, and we are truly fortunate to have access to the amazing bounty provided by the NC coast, regarded as some of the best in the country!

Join Executive Chef Jamie Davis as he hosts an unforgettable dining experience collaborating with his fellow North Carolina chefs to create something truly special!

Each evening, three talented NC chefs will take over The Hackney kitchen to craft an exceptional 4 course dinner, showcasing the finest NC seafood and produce sourced from our dedicated NC Supplier Food Heroes. Whenever possible, these heroes will be present to share insights and educate attendees about the featured seafood. These events offer a unique opportunity to connect with both the chefs and suppliers.

Each dinner will feature pre-dinner canapés and the option to pair each course expertly with exquisite wines selected to enhance the flavors of the dishes.

The series takes place at The Hackney, housed in a beautifully restored former bank building. The Hackney is the home of 2024 James Beard finalist for Best Chef Southeast, Chef Jamie Davis, providing a stunning setting for this unique culinary event.

Some proceeds from each night will be donated to our charity partners, NC Catch and The James Beard Foundation.

The Hackney Restaurant

The Hackney Restaurant opened in January 2019.  The restaurant is set in the restored 1922 bank building on the corner of West Main and Respess Street in the historic town of Washington, North Carolina.  The bank hall has been lovingly restored by the owners Susanne Hackney (a Washingtonian) and Nick Sanders (an Englishman) both with international careers returning to Susanne's home town in 2017. Interior design was led by vanCollier, an amazing local designer and one of Susanne's best childhood friends.  The restaurant was designed with a modern elegant nod to its 1920's art deco origin. All the furniture was made in High Point, North Carolina!  The velvet banquette is set to be just high enough for privacy and just low enough for socializing!  Susanne greets you at the door as Southern hospitality is a top priority here!
